THROUGH THE GLASS

Through the glass i see the day.
I see four squirrels and three blue jays.
The clouds roll through an orange sky,
above the leafless trees so high.
A snowflake falls followed by more.
A wind picks up with a sudden roar.
The trees blow side to side and crack.
The snow piles up, the sky turns black.
The mighty force of winter's here
just like it happens every year.
The power's out, the roads are closed.
The landscape's buried deep in snow.
Through the glass i see the storm
But in my cabin i stay warm.
I put another log upon the fire
so my stove burns strong.
