about

Recorded live at the Paramount Lounge in Moncton N.B. on August 13th 2003, originally released that autumn on my Great Beyond CDR label as #013.

After two and a half years living in downtown Toronto, Tara and i were separated now and i felt alone and trapped in our old apartment with no money. I was also having some bad teeth issues on top of my fragile mental state. My Mom felt worried for me and got me a plane ticket home saying i should come spend August down there with them. So i did.

It was a beautiful summer, well after i got that tooth removed anyhow. Ha. I spent a lot of time visiting my grandmother at her little cottage in Cassie Cape and helping my Dad with yard work and stuff. Hung out with my good friend Kim a lot and went out to Mark's house a few times to start working on demos for what would become next years Elevator album that ended up being named after this lovely month.

I decided to do a local acoustic set while i was home. I booked a show at the Paramount Lounge, a cool little place on Main street where lots of shows were happening. Actually the foyer to the old movie theater i went to as a kid. The set contained three songs from the yet to be released Unintended album we recorded that spring, BELLS OF WAR, QUIET GETAWAY and ANGEL. Five brand new original tunes, IT'S ALL RIGHT, REMEMBER ME and A SURPRISE FOR YOU, LIVE and THE CHANGE. The last three were demoed with Mark and the last two later used on the "August" album. I also did a couple covers. A MOST PECULIAR MAN by Paul Simon and SHE SMILED SWEETLY by the Rolling Stones.

Julie Doiron was in town that summer too and played a set at this show as well. She came up during my set to sing a nice version of the Eric's Trip tune YOU'RE ALWAYS RIGHT as well as Neil Young's LOOK OUT FOR MY LOVE to finish.

When August ended i went back up to Toronto but only lasted until December before coming back for the winter. You can read more of this continuing story on the DEMOS 2004 release.

This new remastered version of the concert has been edited a bit different from the original CDR release to both make it better and leave the original a rare collectible.
Thanks.
