In the spring of 1992, Eric's Trip had a new found excitement. We were getting really comfortable as a band, gaining lots of local fans, playing more shows, making new friends in Halifax, and excitedly writing lots of new songs. We did a 3 song recording session with Terry Pulliam in March to get some songs for our first 7 inch, and while waiting for it's release, we were preparing another full length indie cassette album. We were still recording on a 4track at Chris's folks house, and by July we had 10 ten new songs ready to go when the offer came to do a CD e.p. with Sloan's new Murder Records label.

With the idea of releasing our first CD now in my head, i thought i should re-record a few of the best songs to try and improve the quality a bit. I wasn't very happy with how i captured the drums on the July versions. LISTEN and HAPPENS were re-done completely, NEED and HAZE were remixed with some redone tracks. Those four were chosen, and along with a song from our "Warm Girl" cassette called TANGLES and an acoustic song Julie and I did called DEEPER, we had our first CD ep entitled "Peter".

Some of the leftover tunes from that summer have appeared on singles and compilation releases over the years. Some in there original form, some like SMOTHER and FLOAT in a re-recorded form. All the versions here are the original summer 1992 recordings, newly remixed from the master 4tracks tapes. I've also added some newly mastered tape mixes of the 3 songs done with Terry in March (tracks 9-11).

The vinyl version of this new "Peter LP" release contains 15 songs, track 1-15 here, but for this Bandcamp version only, i've added the July versions of HAPPENS and LISTEN, plus the first demo of NEED recorded outdoors by Rick and Julie. A download code will come with the vinyl for all 18 songs.

*Production note:
One thing that's always haunted me about the original released "Peter" e.p. is that it plays one semitone down in pitch. I think the reason was because i sent off a stereo cassette copy of the final mix to master from and there must have been a pitch difference between the tape decks used. We tuned our guitars standard to 440, and for example "Need" starts in G when played, but it's F# on the CD. Anyway, I've finally been able to fix this and you'll find all the songs in this collection playing in the proper pitch.
