In January 1992 we sent out some of our new "Warm girl" cassette to a guy from Fredericton named Peter Rowan who had a small label that we know had released a few records in the late 80's. When the tape finally got to him, he contacted us from Halifax and said he didn't have the label anymore but he'd love to get us a gig down there. We played our first Halifax show in late February and we found out Peter was working with a new band called "Sloan" and introduced us to the guy that was recording Sloan's "Peppermint ep.", Terry Pulliam. Terry liked our show and offered to record a few songs for us as we had the chance to release a 7" with a small Moncton label called N.I.M.
So on March 30th, we drove down to Terry's home studio in Halifax and recorded three songs. The first was "Belong", then a re-recording of a song from our WarmGirl tape "Red Haired Girl", and then "What i meant" which got left off the 7" due to vinyl pressing side length restrictions. That song was eventually released on the "Long days ride till tomorrow" CD collection in 1996.
We originally wanted "Belong / Red haired girl" on side one, with "What i meant / all i want to do" on side two. "All i want to do" was recorded in Moncton by Rick alone on 4 track in February, and the replacement song for side one, "Mirror" was also done at home by the band on 4track in early April. None of the songs are very hifi, even the ones from Terry's studio are pretty grey, but the record still has a nice feel to it. These versions were mastered from the only tape copy i have, its more fun listening to it on vinyl but its kinda neat hearing this without surface crackle too.
This is a free download friends, thanks all who have enjoyed my other bandcamp releases so far. Feel free to give a little if youre doing okay but don't worry about it :)
