about

I've kinda cherished this recording ever since it was made. It captures ELEVATOR at what may have been the peak of our power, but also at the edge of a cliff.

We just released our "Taste of complete perspective" LP and were finishing off a month of touring with a final show back home in Moncton. The tour went well, things were hopeful, and the band was really together. A dark cloud hung over though as Tara and I lost our house in Moncton pre-tour and were about to move up to Toronto. We were pretty unsure what the future would hold. It was far from being our last show but we were entering a dark time for sure, and things were never the same again.

I had this record put together originally in early 2001, it was meant to be the 2nd in a series of live vinyl LP's, the first being recorded in April 99, this one never managed to come out though. I really love this recording and performance and have kept it off of CDR's and the internet until now because i still hoped a vinyl copy could be produced one day. Oh well, maybe someday, Ha. Here it is anyhow, hope you all dig it as much as i do.

RICK WHITE - Guitar and Voice
TARA WHITE - Bass
MARK GAUDET - The Drums + Voice on "Cries of help" which is a Discharge cover.

*Recording details
It was recorded live on October 21st 2000 by me with a 4track on the stage at Au Deuxieme in Moncton. It was one of my favourite clubs to record in as it had a great dry stage sound. DUANE KELLY did the room sound and gave me two direct feeds from the board. One vocal feed, and one drum set mix. Duane was great for this as he knew the importance of Mark's toms, and made a mix that was as good for the recording as it was for the room. In the other two tracks were two microphones set up in front of the bass and guitar amps. The final mix was done in Toronto, with the drums and voice in the middle, guitar and bass panned hard, and the mix was pushed through the same old tube compressor we used on the "Taste" album. This version is a Wave copy from the final master DAT of that only mix.
