about

Not long after Tara and I moved to Toronto, we had a few shows booked locally in February 2001,and Mark flew up for a week to play them and hang out. Our good friend Nick Holmes was working at Hallamusic at the time and offered us an open night at the studio to lay down a few songs. We went in an set up our gear with plans to just learn and record what we could of a couple recently written songs. I showed Mark and Tara the basic structure and song, then we rehearsed them a few times and Nick pressed record. We got bass/guitar/drums and a live vocal for "SUMMER", "SAD PEOPLE" and "NEW YEARS" done in 4 or 5 hours, then tried an attempt at one of Tara's songs "PHASE OF THE MOON" but gave up before we really had it finished as we were all pretty spaced by that point in the night.

Nick and I went back into the studio with the tapes a month later and spent an evening adding a few guitar, vocal and keyboard overdubs, then mixed the songs down and walked home in the pouring rain.

We originally planned to release the first three songs as a seven inch record but soon gave up on that idea as we worked on "The Headquake tapes" and more demos for what would become the next album "Darkness-Light".

In December 2001 when compiling the "Lost During Headquake" CDR release, i decided to include this studio session stuff cause it didn't seem to fit in with what we were planning for the next album. "New Years Revelation" was dubbed to the 1/4inch 4track and had a few more tracks added to it as well as a middle section which included some street sounds out the window. The version of Tara's song had a bit more added to it as well but still remained un-released until now.

Recorded at Hallamusic Toronto by Nick Holmes and Rick White.
February 15 2001 and March 13 2001.
Final mixes by Rick.
